Sitting

I am grateful for having this time to share my meditation practice with our group.

I have been experiencing the joy of in person sitting in California.

Recently, I was fortunate to have a vacation in Japan, and I was able to do zazen while I visited

Kencho-Ji Temple at Kamakura.

My experiences from the different times and places all leads to one path …

Regardless of where I sit,

the experience is so familiar that any given cushion can be my center.. my home.

Feeling the movement of my body bowing from my head down is natural .

Seeing and hearing the giant bell seems different yet the same meaning as the sound of a tiny bell.

During the teisho, the Japanese language sounds very different from the English language yet the practice flows with no words needing to be translated.

Experiencing the oneness of the sangha /community there is the same as the kindness of our community here.

The entire meditation practice is indeed universal!

Here is a poem I created based on my sittings…
